Akar Indah Engineering Sdn Bhd (AIESB) was founded in 2014 by a group of entrepreneurs who saw an opportunity to meet the Malaysian government’s challenge of encouraging more home-grown enterprises to establish technology-related businesses. Witnessing much potential in the local talents, AIESB decided that its success would enable more Malaysian industries to adopt local technology solutions and make an impact at the international level.

Its offices are currently situated within UPM-MTDC Technology Centre, a collaboration initiative between University Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC).

AIESB provides a wide range of engineering and technical services, with a focus on information technology solutions, Industry 4.0 solutions, machine retrofitting, machine localisation, project management, continuous improvement activities, technical design and technical training. Some of its installed solutions are

• Autonomous Robots - equipped with technology such as Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFID) that can assist them in understanding their physical environment and automating elements of their maintenance and direction that humans previously performed.
• ANDON Monitoring System - a system that alerts management, maintenance, and other workers to a quality or process issue. The focal point is a device with signal lights that show which workstation has a problem. The alert can be manually initiated by a worker using a pull cord or button or automatically actuated by the production equipment. In addition, the system could contain a feature that allows you to halt production while you fix the problem. Audio alarms, text, and other displays are all included in some current warning systems.

Apart from these products and services, the company has also forayed into the training industry with learning modules and tools like Machine Control Training Kit.

Venturing into International Waters

From the onset, its vision was to export its products and services to a global audience. It has competed successfully with international companies to win projects internationally like:

To support its Japanese customer base, AIESB plans its first international office to be located there soon. Furthermore, AIESB is confident that more such offices will be quickly created to meet its growing global demand.

ROBIN – COVID-19 Pandemic Hero

During the pandemic, the reduction of human contact is highly critical in ensuring the safety of workers. AIESB was able to serve its client base in the wet market and F&B industries with the Smart Terminal and Autonomous Robot Bin (ROBIN). 

ROBIN ensured that human contact was minimal, allowing businesses to operate successfully with the pandemic conditions imposed by the government.
